Fans stand up for tolerance & diversity

badge_75.jpgFans of Hibernian Football Club are taking a stand for diverity and tolerance after the far right British National Party attempted to whip up Islamophobia over the club's attitude to its Muslim players.

Hibs manager John Collins talked publicly at the begining of Ramadan about the measures he was taking to take account of the needs of Abdessalam Benjelloun and Merouane Zemmama while they were fasting during daylight hours.

The two Morrocan players are favourites with Hibs fans, t shirts sporting 'Morocco Hibernian' logos can be seen on the streets of the Scottish capital's Leith district.

Hibs fans on the unofficial 'Hibees Bounce' bulletin board were universal in their condemnation of the fascist BNP for trying to stir up religious intolerance at the club and praised the attitude of manager Collins to his Muslim players: "I actually think it just makes Hibernian look good. It rattles their cage that we are a tolerant football community!" said one fan.

This contributer to Islamophobia Watch is also proud to be a fan of the mighty Hibernian FC !
