Racial and religious attacks up 12 per cent
Monday, October 29, 2007 Racially and religiously motivated attacks have gone up by 12 per cent, according to Government figures. New statistics from the Ministry of Justice will show that in 2005-06, the latest year for which figures are available, there were 41,000 racially or religiously motivated offences. It is thought that the rise could be partly attributable to increased fears over terrorism and immigration. Earlier this year Home Office figures showed that Asians were twice as likely to stabbed or "bottled" than a decade ago.
